Vegetarianism & Veganism
When Lois decided to become a vegetarian she cut all the meat out of her diet and thought that would be then end of it. She started eating more bread and pasta in place of the meat she was used to and as her weight climbed her energy bottomed out. Lois set up a meeting with our registered dietitian to find out how what she thought was such a "healthy diet" could make her feel so out of sorts.
A good balance of foods is key to a healthy vegetarian diet. Some vegetarians have a hard time losing weight or maintaining high energy levels because they focus on the wrong foods. Instead of concentrating on what nutritious and fresh foods to add to their diet, they simply cut out all meat and replace it with lots of carbohydrates, especially pasta.
Our expert staff can help you find the right balance in your diet. We will suggest alternative foods to help you get the protein, iron and other nutrients your body needs, while staying true to your vegetarian or vegan ideals.
