Knowing your metabolic rate
could be the key to weight loss
Knowing your metabolic rate, or
how many calories your body uses at rest, is key to successful
lifelong weight loss. If you know your metabolic rate you
can pinpoint the number of calories you need to eat and still
lose weight.
In the past, a metabolic test
has only been available at universities and hospitals. Now
you can get this simple, non-invasive test in the comfort
of our office. Want more information about the test itself?

and our sample
report (PDF).
Many people cut back too much when dieting.
Eating too few calories slows down your metabolic rate and
makes it even harder for you to lose weight regardless of
how little you eat.
Rather than estimating how many calories your
body needs based upon your height and weight or body mass
index (BMI), we measure your actual metabolic rate through
a simple, non-invasive test. With this information we can
customize a diet and nutrition plan to maximize your success
and make healthy eating a much more pleasurable experience.
Psychiatrist Dr. Gary Spivack, who is the founder
and medical director of MinDshape, says metabolic rate plays
a big role in why many diets backfire.
"By testing a person's metabolic rate
we know how to create the best, most personalized treatment,"
says Spivack. "Eating too little lowers your metabolic
rate and sabotages your success. It's important to have a
normal metabolic rate and to adjust your diet based on that."
Eating a healthy diet with the right amount
of calories can keep you feeling positive, and the success
you will have will motivate you to continue eating for good
health.
MinDshape registered dietitian Deborah Jeffery
adds, "Over-restricting the amount of calories you take
in is often too hard to maintain. Testing a person's metabolic
rate gives us the perfect calorie level. The client should
be able to eat to that level to satisfy their hunger and then
be successful with weight loss."
Once you are ready contact
us to make an appointment for metabolic testing. This
easy, non-invasive test is often covered by insurance.
