Infertility
Meg and Bryan had been trying to
have a child for 4 years when she came to MinDshape. Both
professionals, they work long hours and have a lot stress
in their lives. Meg's OB/GYN told her that she would have
a greater chance of naturally conceiving if they both lost
weight. Meg wanted a weight loss program with a greater likelihood
of success that would help them to motivate and support each
other as they tried again for a baby.

Pregnancy
Emma has lived with an eating disorder
and depression since her early teens. Now 28 and pregnant
she's afraid of putting on weight, but scared that if she
doesn't her child will suffer. After she finished our 6 week
support group for pregnant women her OB/GYN encouraged her
to seek more individual counseling to ensure the most positive
outcome possible. Being pregnant was a stress on her due to
the eating disorder, but the pregnancy and birth of her child
would give her the opportunity to change her own relationship
to food and how to eat healthy and be at ease with her own
body.

Post-pregnancy
Jackie had gained more weight than she
had hoped during her last pregnancy and was very worried that
she would never lose it, especially since she was still carrying
an extra ten pounds from her first pregnancy. Meeting other
women in our post-partum support group really motivated her
to take action. Evaluation of her metabolic rate showed that
she had actually been under-eating and had lowered her metabolism
because of it. Our registered dietitian created a custom menu
plan that helped Jackie to eat more of the right foods so
that she could lose weight and get the energy she needed to
lose the extra weight and keep up with her two young children
and her job.

Type 2 Diabetes & pre-diabetes
Joan, a 45 year-old mother of 2, knew she
could stand to lose 30 lbs. Her mother and sister both have
Type 2 diabetes, and she was recently diagnosed with hypertension
and warned to change her diet and lose weight so that she
does not develop diabetes herself. But being told "just
do it" wasn't enough. Joan had no idea how to successfully
break the bad habits she had learned from childhood on. Through
MinDshape, Joan says, "I got a clear plan of attack so
I could lose weight and keep diabetes at bay. I also got a
lot of emotional support and motivation that was invaluable.
I could never have done it on my own."

Menopause
Brenda, 43, had gained a few pounds a year
over the years. She's lost weight in the past with prepared-food
programs but the weight came back each time she went back
to fixing her own meals. Now she sees menopause coming on
and she knows that if she doesn't overcome this now it will
be doubly hard later. On the advice of a friend she met with
our registered dietitian and instantly felt a weight lift
and a bit of her old energy return. It wasn't too late for
Brenda to lose weight, and she didn't have to deprive herself
of what she enjoyed in order to do it.

Food Allergies
Justine's food allergies deprived her of
the pleasure that food can hold. Dinner out and parties with
friends were not as fun as they should be, and Justine felt
she was missing out. Her allergies caused her a lot of anxiety
too—there were some foods that would just upset her
stomach, but others that could cause a severe medical reaction.
Allergy testing resulted in often contradictory results. Justine
worked with our registered dietitian and was able to find
the answers she needed to learn how to enjoy food in her life
instead of letting food run her life.

Vegetarianism &
Veganism
When Lois decided to become a vegetarian
she cut all the meat out of her diet and thought that would
be then end of it. She started eating more bread and pasta
in place of the meat she was used to and as her weight climbed
her energy bottomed out. Lois set up a meeting with our registered
dietitian to find out how what she thought was such a "healthy
diet" could make her feel so out of sorts.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Monica felt that her life was being overrun
by the pain, bloating, constipation and diarrhea associated
with her Irritable Bowl Syndrome. Her friends and family didn't
understand how something that sounded so simple to fix, like
constipation, could keep her from functioning. Yet it drained
her energy and focus, and she was absolutely miserable. The
knowledge and support she got from her dietitian was invaluable
"It was just too complicated to figure out on my own,"
she said. "I needed help, and I got it from MinDshape."
